Brad Pitt wins award for eco-housing project

Actor honoured for being green

Brad Pitt has six children with his partner Angelina Jolie

Brad Pitt has received a special plaque in recognition of his environmentally-friendly housing project in New Orleans.

The award was presented to the actor, 45, by the US Green Building Council for ‘the largest and greenest single family community in the world'.

Since 2007, his Make It Right organisation has built 13 homes in an area of New Orleans that was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

On accepting the plaque, Brad vowed to have 150 homes running by next year.

‘We demanded that these homes be sustainable, that they have aesthetic qualities,' he said.
