Cheryl Cole defends Strictly judge Alesha Dixon

The X Factor star sticks up for rival

Cheryl Cole made her X Factor debut in 2008

Cheryl Cole has commented on the backlash over Strictly Come Dancing judge Alesha Dixon.

The X Factor star climbed Mount Kilimanjaro with the singer, 30, for Comic Relief earlier this year.

‘I don't need to give Alesha any advice,' Cheryl, 26, told radio station Signal 1. ‘Honestly, she's a really strong woman.

‘I can't tell you how hard it was to climb that mountain. I promise you, it was one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life, both mentally and physically.

'If she can do that then she can get through this.

‘I haven't seen the programme, but I think she's well qualified. I wish her the best of luck and I hope it all backs off for her.'
