Music veterans Chas and Dave have announced they are no longer working together.
Bassist Dave Peacock, 64, is retiring following the death of his wife Sue from cancer in July.
‘Understandably Dave has taken his loss very badly and he hasn't the heart to continue gigging,' says his agent Barry Collings.
Chas Hodges, 65, will continue to perform under the new name of Chas And His Band.
‘When his wife died I took over the gigs straight away and just left it up to him,' Chas tells the Daily Mail.
‘Two or three weeks later he said, "Chas, I'm not coming back to work. I don't want to come back and be entertaining the public."
‘Obviously it's sad. It's the end of an era but the start of another one.
'I'm going on with Dave's blessing, and if he rings up next year and says he fancies coming back, that's great.'
Chas and Dave's debut album One Fing 'n' Anuvver was released in 1975 and the pair have had eight top 40 singles.
They played Glastonbury in 2005 and with The Libertines in 2003 and 2004.
