Fragile Angelina Jolie drops 10lb in weeks

She's stressed as her humanitarian work drives her and Brad apart

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's relationship is tense

Looking her thinnest for years, Angelina Jolie visibly showed the strain when she embarked on yet another humanitarian trip to Kenya last week.

According to insiders, she's lost 10lb due to stress since she and partner Brad Pitt returned to Chateau Miraval in the South of France a month ago to supposedly rebuild their relationship.

Our source says: ‘Angelina's off her food again, which is a sure sign the relationship's in trouble. Her bones were jutting out and she looks ill.

'Brad's stopped trying to persuade her to eat, even though she's down to less than 7st 2lb. He says she doesn't listen to him, so it's pointless. It's like he's given up, full stop, on their relationship.'

The biggest source of tension between the pair is Angelina's humanitarian projects. Until now, Brad, 45, has supported her, but insiders say he's ‘beside himself' at her plans to return to Afghanistan in November.

This year, she's been to refugee camps in Thailand and Iraq, conferences in the US and given millions of dollars to help refugees in Pakistan.

‘Brad admires her, but he feels it's gone too far and isn't for him,' says our source. ‘While she's touring refugee camps and meeting officials, he has to look after the kids. He has nannies to help, but it's still exhausting.

‘He's drowning his sorrows with alcohol. The pace of his life is manic, so his way of calming down is to have a few drinks.'

Ange, 34, and Brad hoped to spend quality time together at their home in France. But in reality they've been living in separate quarters at the 35-bedroom chateau and, while locals have spotted each of them out with their six kids, they're rarely seen together.

Our source adds: ‘Brad didn't go with Ange to the refugee camp in Kenya or when she took their daughter Zahara, four, to Ethiopia last Wednesday.

'He's heading to LA soon to seal a few movie projects and he's spent several days on his own this month visiting an urban regeneration project in Spain. It hasn't been the peaceful summer they needed for their relationship and now they're going their separate ways again.'
