Opera singer thought she would die
Monday, 21 September 2009
Katherine Jenkins was attacked by the Taliban as she flew to Iraq to sing for British troops.
A helicopter carrying the opera singer was struck by a missile over Basra in 2005.
‘Suddenly there was this deafening noise and the helicopter just dropped out of the sky,' she says.
‘Someone shouted that we'd been hit and there was this incredible sensation of falling.
‘I could only think, "This is it - I'm done".'
But the chopper managed to touch down safely.
‘Suddenly it stopped and I realised somehow the pilot had landed,' Katherine, 29, tells the Daily Record.
‘We were pulled out and all I could think about was that I was alive.'
