Amelle Berrabah is believed to have left the Sugababes.
Last week the singer, 25, sparked fears for her safety when she disappeared after a rumoured bust-up with bandmate Keisha Buchanan.
The star's family reported her missing after she missed a series of gigs with Keisha, 24, and Heidi Range, 26.
Amelle's sister Zakiya blamed her absence on tonsillitis but now it's reported she has quit and former UK Eurovision entrant Jade Ewen has taken her place.
'I spoke to her on Thursday. She said she'd had a meeting with the girls and sounded quiet and vague about it,' a pal tells the Mirror. 'She hasn't been herself for the last two months, she's been really depressed.
'When they signed their 3-album deal with Island Records, Amelle was offered a solo deal on the side. She'll probably carry on and do that.'
The girl group were formed in 1998 and Keisha Buchanan remains the only original member. Amelle replaced Mutya Buena who left the line-up in 2005.
The Sugababes are currently at No 8 in the UK charts with the single Get Sexy.
The girls' record label is expected to release a statement today to confirm what exactly is going on.
