Peter Andre: Harvey taught me how to be a father

Singer has learned a lot from step-son

Peter Andre and Jordan announced their separation in May

Peter Andre learned how to be a good dad from step-son Harvey.

The singer bonded with the disabled 7-year-old when he started dating Jordan, 31, in 2004.

Peter, 36, admits Harvey was the inspiration for some of the tracks on latest album Revelation.

‘It's important to say that not all of the tracks are about the relationship,' he says. ‘[The song Unconditional] is about Harvey.

‘He taught me to be a father before I became a dad, and I sing about wishing I'd been there for his first breath.'

Harvey's biological dad is footballer Dwight Yorke, 37.

‘I sing about his father when I say, "How could a man not want to claim his own?"' says Pete. ‘I'd never walk away from children, and, as much as I'm allowed to, I will have Harvey in my life.'

Peter also has Junior, 4, and Princess Tiaami, 2, with Jordan.
