Singer stuns audiences at VMAs
Tuesday, 15 September 2009
Lady GaGa faked her own death at the MTV Video Music Awards in New York and shocked the audience with the gruesome stunt.
During a performance of hit single Paparzzi, the singer, 23, pretended to stab herself in the chest while covering herself in fake blood.
After disappearing off stage, Lady GaGa then reappeared hanging limply from a cord suspended from the roof.
Anti-suicide campaigners are not amused.
'This act is not cool: sensationalising and romanticising suicide is irresponsible,’ says a spokesperson for Papyrus – the national charity for prevention of young suicides.
‘Celebrities, who are often idolised by young people, need to be more aware of the impact that such acts can have on vulnerable young people.’
