Planned Vienna memorial concert for the King of Pop will be now held in Britain
Friday, 11 September 2009
Jermaine Jackson has confirmed that the tribute concert planned in memory of Michael Jackson will now take place in the UK.
The memorial, due to be held in Vienna later this month, has now been cancelled and a new date is being discussed for summer 2010.
‘Many artists and performers who I have spoken to personally told me that it would be a great honour to be a part of this memorial concert for my late brother,’ says Jermaine.
‘However, due to the short time frame it was not possible for many of them to change their schedule so that they could be on stage in Vienna.
‘Therefore we decided, after careful consideration, to change the date of the tribute concert to summer 2010.'
All Vienna ticket holders will be refunded and tickets for the UK concert, THE TRIBUTE In Memory Of Michael Jackson, will go on sale later this year.
‘Michael originally wanted to start his comeback in the UK,’ says Jermaine. ‘After visiting Britain earlier this week, I think it is only fitting that we stage the tribute here.’
