Nicole Richie has given birth to a son

Nicole Richie has had a baby boy. The 27-year-old has named her little boy Sparrow.

'In the middle of night, the very early hours of 9 September 2009, Sparrow James Midnight Madden was born to Nicole Richie and Joel Madden,' Nicole and Joel write on the new mum's website.

'He weighs 7 lbs 14 oz. Nicole, Joel, Harlow and Sparrow are all doing well. Thank you for all of your good wishes.'

Nicole, 27, and Good Charlotte rocker Joel are already parents to 18-month-old Harlow.  

'We're very, very blessed,' the happy dad, 30, told People recently 'We've already had one healthy kid, and that's all you can ask for as a parent - healthy kids.
