Janet Jackson to pay tribute to Michael at MTV VMAs

Singer will open the show

Janet Jackson is still in mourning

Janet Jackson will pay homage to late brother Michael at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Organisers have confirmed that the singer will kick off the ceremony at Radio City Music Hall in New York.

It is not known whether Janet will perform as well, reports People.

The 43-year-old also represented the Jackson family at a BET Awards' memorial event on 28 June – just 3 days after Michael’s death.

The MTV Video Music Awards take place on 13 September.
