Actress recovering after minor incident

Cate Blanchett was not seriously injured and is now said to be 'absolutely fine'

Cate Blanchett had to pull out of her stage show last night after being hit by a prop.

The actress was performing in A Streetcar Named Desire in Sydney when she was accidentally clobbered with a radio during a fight scene with co-star Joel Edgerton.

‘There was a minor incident on stage that unfortunately did injure Cate,’ Sydney Theatre Company’s Tim McKeough tells the BBC.

‘There was a moment when another actor lifted the prop above his head and she somehow sustained a minor blow to the head.’

Cate, 40, was reportedly seen leaving the stage with blood pouring from the wound.

She is expected to return to the show tonight.
