The Twilight hunk believes friendship leads to romance

Robert Pattinson has never felt real passion

Robert Pattinson became a global heartthrob in the hit film Twilight last year and with the sequel New Moon set to hit cinemas in November, the hysteria has gone up a notch.

The 23-year-old even managed to beat off competition from Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp to be voted the Sexiest Man Alive in a recent poll.

'Last year I wasn’t even able to get a date and now it seems women have changed their minds about me,' he says. 'It’s kind of weird to get all this attention.

'Teenage girls are always screaming and screaming – it’s so surreal. I still haven’t really had time to think about all the madness going on around me because it’s so bizarre.'

Robert and his Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart, 19,  looked very cosy when they were snapped at a recent Kings Of Leon gig in Vancouver.  But Robert insists they'e not an item.

Astonishingly, the actor reckons he's never even felt the heady euphoria of being in love.

'I do consider myself a very romantic person, though,' he says. 'I see love as an evolution of true friendship.'
