Broadcaster says it was an experiment

Michael Jackson died at the age of 50

A video apparently showing Michael Jackson jumping out of a coroner's van has been confirmed as a hoax.

The footage - taken from inside an underground carpark in LA - sparked conspiracy theories that the singer faked his own death.

But now German broadcaster RTL has confirmed it wasn't genuine.

'We wanted to show how easily users can be manipulated on the internet with hoax videos,' spokeswoman Heike Schultz tells the BBC.

'Therefore, we created this video of Michael Jackson being alive, even though everybody knows by now that he is dead - and the response was breathtaking.'

It follows a YouTube video, which claims to show Jacko's ghost at his Neverland ranch.
