Michael Jackson’s death has officially been ruled a homicide.
The Los Angeles County coroner has released a statement confirming the singer was poisoned by an overdose of a powerful surgical anaesthetic.
‘The drugs propofol and lorazepam were found to be the primary drugs responsible for Mr Jackson’s death,’ reads the statement.
‘Other drugs detected were: midazolam, diazepam, lidocaine and ephedrine.’
In the States, homicide can refer to murder or to negligent or accidental manslaughter - it does not always lead to criminal charges.
The full autopsy report will not be made public at the request of the LAPD.
