Dizzee Rascal: I’m lucky not to be strung out on heroin

Rapper says work helps keep him grounded

Dizzee Rascal survived being stabbed

Dizzee Rascal has credited his music with keeping him off drugs.

The rapper, real name Dylan Mills, went through a tough time after he was stabbed 6 times in Ayia Napa in 2003.

‘There’s been a lot of rehabilitation over the years,’ Dizzee, 23, tells Telegraph Magazine.

‘It’s not like I went for counselling after getting stabbed, like most people would. I just kind of threw myself into my work and jumped into the public eye.

‘I suppose from that perspective I’m quite lucky not to be strung out on heroin or something. I have had the odd little moment but on the whole I do a pretty good job of holding things together.’
