GMTV host recalls William's dramatic arrival
Wednesday, 26 August 2009
Kate Garraway has revealed her midwife struggled to detect her baby's heartbeat during her labour.
The GMTV presenter, 42, admits it felt like an age before they were able to find it again.
‘At one point the baby was very active and wriggling around,’ says Kate.
‘He slipped to the back of my back which meant the midwife suddenly couldn’t hear his heartbeat.
'It was only for three minutes but to me it felt like an hour and I just thought, oh God.’
Fortunately, after a ten-hour labour, baby William was born.
‘It’s amazing how you forget all the pain the second you see that little bundle,’ Kate tells OK!
She and husband Derek Draper are already parents to three-year-old daughter Darcey.
