David Copperfield denies sex assault claim

Magician's lawyers say it's an extortion attempt

David Copperfield apparently met the model at one of his shows in January

David Copperfield is being sued by a 22-year-old model who claims he sexually assaulted her.

The woman says the alleged incident took place on his private island in the Bahamas in July.

But lawyers for David, 52, have dismissed the lawsuit as an attempt at 'extortion for money, plain and simple’.

‘Unfortunately, false claims like this only hurt the women who really have been abused,' reads a statement. 'Women who really need our help.’

No criminal charges have been brought over the alleged incident.
