Tom Cruise was reunited with his wife Katie Holmes in Australia last week – and walked straight into a baby argument.
Katie’s frustrations boiled over last Wednesday when Tom visited the set of her latest film Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark in Melbourne and started to interfere.
Onlookers reported that a harassed Katie, 30, had a heated exchange with Tom, 47, before the pair stormed off.
Our source says: ‘Katie can’t handle Tom being so controlling and she just won’t accept it. Their relationship has moved on from the early days when she would bow to his every move. Now it’s Tom who has to play to his wife’s tune and he’s following her around like a lost puppy.’
But there is one thing Tom’s never had to compromise on and that’s his Scientology beliefs, which are proving a huge stumbling block with their baby plans. The couple have been longing for a sibling for their three-year-old daughter Suri, but as yet it hasn’t happened.
Katie is willing to try anything to have another child and was pictured leaving California Fertility Partners in April, but Scientology chiefs have warned her against IVF treatment. Now Tom faces a difficult decision between his wife or his beliefs.
‘Katie saw a fertility expert earlier this year who told her that because she’s been trying for another baby for over a year, they ought to think about IVF,’ says an insider.
‘But the Scientologists have waded in and said: “No way,” because it’s against their practices. Katie’s tried what they’ve suggested, going on gruelling detoxes. But Scientology’s always the problem – otherwise she and Tom would be blissfully happy.'
