Simon Cowell contacted cops after Leona Lewis’ new single was made available online.

It’s thought his record company Syco’s computers were targeted by hackers who stole the track Don’t Let Me Down.

‘Syco are working alongside the International Federation Of The Phonographic Industry, the British Phonographic Industry, the police and investigators in this and they are making fast progress,’ says a spokesman for Syco.

‘We will certainly look to bring charges against those who are responsible. We cannot give any more details at this stage for operational reasons.’

It’s not the first time this has happened – X Factor 2008 winner Alexandra Burke’s unfinished recordings were leaked on the internet last year.

Leona collaborates with Justin Timberlake on the new track, which was due to be the first release from her second album.
