Are Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie for real?

As much as they try to hide it, their relationship is still in trouble

At the LA premiere of Inglourious Basterds on 10 August, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt put on a united front.

It was the couple’s first public appearance since the Cannes Film Festival, but it wasn’t as well-perfected as the last – Brad looked preoccupied and distant, whereas Angelina laughed and joked with anyone apart from her lover.

The couple are finding it more and more difficult to pretend their relationship is rock solid, according to those closest to them.

One source tells Now: ‘They rowed just hours before going on the red carpet. Ange refused to accompany Brad unless he agreed to not speak or pose for photos with his co-star Diane Kruger.

He said that was ridiculous, but Ange locked herself in the bathroom until he gave in. It’s the same old story – rows, rows and more rows.’

Brad has also given explicit details about his and Ange’s sex life in the past two weeks. First, he revealed they made out under a waterfall in the grounds of their LA home. Then at last week’s premiere he said: ‘We have far more comfortable places to go. There’s a grotto… rumour is Jimi Hendrix spent some time there.’

The 45-year-old recently joked about his boozing and cannabis smoking, but it’s created a huge rift.

‘He can’t let go of his bachelor lifestyle,' says our source. 'He’s even looking at luxury flats in the Hollywood Hills to escape the kids and Ange.'

There’s no doubt Brad seems to be having a mid-life crisis. Two weeks ago, he said: ‘Acting is a younger man’s game. There are fewer interesting parts for older people. I’ve kind of had my time.’

So what keeps Brangelina together? Their well-oiled PR machine. Brad can’t be seen to leave Ange and their kids, so she has much of the power. ‘Ange and her manager Geyer Kosinski carefully control her image,’ says our source.

‘When Brad dumped Jen, to stop Ange looking like the scarlet woman she was flown to Pakistan and pictured helping refugees.

‘When she sold the first photos of the twins to People magazine, it had to highlight her missionary work. She sometimes asks Brad what he thinks, but he’s mostly seen and not heard.’
