Jennifer Aniston admits: I'm lonely

She’s unlucky in love once more as her fling with Gerard fizzles out

Jennifer Aniston is on her own again

Our hearts went out to Jennifer Aniston last week when she put on a brave face about being single.

'I’m not going to ignore the elephant in the living room,’ said the unlucky-in-love star. ‘If I’m the emblem for: “This is what it looks like to be the lonely girl getting on with her life,” so be it. I can make fun of myself.’

Admitting that she was willing to be a symbol of hope for all single girls, Jen, 40, added that she’s fully supportive of ‘anybody who’s in a place that’s not their strongest [but] is ready to push forward’.

She’s faced more than her fair share of heartache after being linked to the likes of John Mayer and Bradley Cooper in the past year – and now Gerard Butler can be added to that list.

Last week, we reported that Jen was enjoying secret dates with Gerard while they’d been filming The Bounty together, but their fling has fizzled out.

According to trusted sources, Gerard has shown little interest in a long-term relationship and has set his sights on other women.

Now can reveal that he’s been linked with Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra who was Miss World in 2000, after they met at the opening of Atlantis Hotel in Dubai last November.

Despite Jen’s brave face, friends aren’t sure how long she can put up with so much rejection. One pal says: ‘Some exes seem to want to rub her nose in it – like Bradley Cooper, who last week once again denied that Jen was more than “simply a friend”.

‘Although John Mayer’s moving in on Jessica Simpson, it hasn’t stopped Jen pining for him. She still wears the Rolex he gave her as a dating gift, but it’s like his party trick. Jessica was given the same type of watch.’

It’s an all too familiar tale for Jen, but in public at least she’s retaining her sense of humour. She says in a recent interview: ‘I remember being seven and asking my mom if I was as pretty as [my best friend] Monique. And with all the love in the world, my mom replied: “Oh honey, you’re so funny!”’
