Steven Tyler was trying to entertain the crowd when he fell off the stage

Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has been airlifted to hospital following a stage tumble.

The rocker, 61, accidentally fell backwards onto fans while dancing on a catwalk.

He was trying to entertain the crowd after the sound system failed at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota.

He suffered neck and shoulder injuries, but was still conscious as he left the grounds.

‘He was good natured about it,’ concert organiser Mike Sanborn tells the Associated Press. ‘He was talking and joking with the physician.’

Aerosmith
cancelled the remainder of the show following the accident.
