Sarah Jessica Parker is feeling the strain of looking after new twins Marion and Tabitha, born to a surrogate on 22 June.
Looking drawn and tired, Sarah, 44, was out in New York’s Hamptons with husband Matthew Broderick last weekend at an AIDS fundraiser.
‘Sarah did look tired and she was clinging to Matthew for dear life although she still found time
to schmooze with Calvin Klein designers Francisco Costa and Italo Zucchelli,’ says an insider.
‘You’d expect her to be relaxing at home with the babies, but she seemed to have her business head on.’
It’s by no means the first sign of Sarah thinking about work during this stressful time. She’s signed up for several more projects in the past few weeks.
One is a new reality TV show that she’s teaming up with Bravo to produce, based around 13 artists who will compete to win their own gallery exhibition.
There have also been stories in the US press that Sarah’s looking at reviving her clothing range Bitten and that she’s trying to get hold of the rights to a new novel, similar to the Sex And The City tales that made her famous.
‘Sarah’s got a lot on her plate,’ a source confirms. ‘It’s as if she’s scared she’ll lose these opportunities if she doesn’t take them now. Having twins and balancing the needs of a six-year-old [son James] is a tall order for any woman.’
Sarah’s admitted to feeling ‘conflicted’ between her work and home life.
‘I can’t really complain because it’s my choice to work, but that doesn’t mean I don’t spend the better part of the day worrying about whether my family is getting enough [time] from me,’ she said recently.
‘Any mother who wants to continue to work and have a career outside the home goes through this, so I feel very much a part of the sisterhood.’
