David Beckham put his diplomacy skills to use when a fan allegedly insulted wife Victoria during a a US soccer match at the weekend.
The hunk’s LA Galaxy team were taking on the Kansas City Wizards on Saturday when the man, wearing an England kit, appeared to start heckling.
David, 34, went over to him to make peace and they eventually shook hands.
But Becks – who made himself unpopular with some of his Californian fans by going to Italy on loan earlier this year - later hit out at the supporter during a post-match interview.
‘He shouldn’t actually be wearing that shirt because what he said about my wife was a disgrace,’ he said.
‘Whether I get booed or not doesn’t matter to me. All I’m going to do is play my football.’
Meanwhile, David has been fined £600 by the Major League Soccer because he confronted another fan during a match against AC Milan last week.
‘Players should never engage in conduct that can be interpreted as encouraging fans to come out of the stands and on to the field,’ said commissioner Don Garber.
