Swiss tennis ace thrilled to have baby daughters

Roger Federer beat Andy Roddick in an epic five-set Wimbledon final this year

Roger Federer has become a dad for the first time.

The Swiss tennis star and his wife Mirka welcomed twin girls on Thursday night.

They have named them Charlene Riva and Myla Rose.

‘I have some exciting news to share with you,’ Roger, 27, wrote on his official website. ‘Mirka and I became proud parents of twin girls.

'They are both healthy, and along with their mother they are doing great. This is the best day of our lives.’

Roger met former Women's Tennis Association player Mirka while competing for Switzerland in the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
