Amy Winehouse has been found not guilty of assault at Westminster Magistrates' Court.

The singer was accused of attacking dancer Sherene Flash in Berkeley Square after a charity ball in London in September 2008.

But today District Judge Timothy Workman said all but two witnesses were drunk on the night in question.

'The two accounts are irreconcilable and I have had therefore to examine carefully the evidence of other witnesses,' he told the court.

He added that medical evidence presented by the prosecution did not show 'the sort of injury that often occurs when there is a forceful punch to the eye'.

A spokesman for Amy, 25, said she was thrilled with the outcome.

'She has always maintained her innocence and is very happy to move on with her life and put the episode behind her,' he said.

On leaving court, the star told reporters: 'I'm relieved. I'm going home.'
