Rumours fly that Fern's body isn't all down to Mother Nature
Wednesday, 22 July 2009
As Fern Britton’s time on This Morning’s sofa drew to a close last week, she was a very different woman to the one that started there 10 years ago.
She’s slimmed down to a size 12 and lost one third of her body weight – much of this down to her having a gastric band fitted in 2006 – so it’s no wonder her outfits have become more revealing, especially recently.
One TV insider tells : ‘The cleavage-baring tops have become more daring by the day, which have led to all sorts of rumours in the office that she’s had a boob job. They do seem perky for someone who’s lost so much weight – there’s no excess skin around her boobs or tum.’
The 52-year-old has become self-conscious about her midriff. She should have excess skin due to her dramatic weight loss, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Dr Saif Khan of Transform Cosmetic Surgery says: ‘Demand for procedures dealing with the results of gastric band surgery has risen. I see women who’ve had dramatic fat loss but are left with folds of excess skin. Most have either a tummy tuck or facelift.’
So far, offers have hardly been flooding in for TV work or endorsements. Her dad Tony Britton was a serious thespian and she’s playing up the talk about trying her hand at acting.
Our source adds: ‘Her agents reckon she’s got an excellent face for character acting as she looks lived-in yet attractive.’
Fern’s also hoping that not working on This Morning with TV chef husband Phil Vickery will add a new spark to their marriage, which has been under pressure. ‘She’s got high hopes that leaving the show will give their marriage a boost, as they weren’t enjoying working together. Phil’s pleased that she’s talking about taking time out, but sceptical as to whether she’ll really do it.’
A spokesman for Fern declined to comment on allegations that she’s had cosmetic surgery.
