Amy Winehouse has finally weaned herself off drugs, according to her mum.

Janis Winehouse is delighted the singer has turned her life around after eight months in St Lucia.

‘A year or two ago, everyone was saying: “Will she get through this, will she even survive?”’ she says. ‘And look at her now.

'She's put on a bit of weight and looks better than she has in a long time. We've got the old Amy back.

'I always knew she'd come through it. And I know she doesn't want to go back to the drugs.

But Janis admits Amy, 25, is still boozing.

‘St Lucia was good in many ways because there were no hard drugs around, but she was bored, so she drank,’ she adds.

‘But she’s sorting herself out and I’m sure she’ll stop drinking when she’s ready.’

Meanwhile, Amy’s dad Mitch is to address the Parliament’s Home Affairs select committee to highlight the dangers of dealers.

‘He wants to talk about the impact of cocaine on his family,’ a spokesman tells the Sunday People.
