The X Factor finalist will star in The Rise And Fall Of Little Voice
Wednesday, 15 July 2009
Diana Vickers is to make her stage debut later this year.
The X Factor finalist, 18, has landed the lead role in the revival of hit play The Rise And Fall Of Little Voice.
‘This young girl is a natural actress,’ says playwright Jim Cartwright.
‘The moment she read the part, it was magic. A frisson ran through the room. Diana Vickers is the real deal. She is Little Voice.’
The Rise And Fall Of Little Voice originally premiered in 1992 and went on to become a successful movie in 1998, starring Jane Horrocks and Michael Caine.
The lead character, a talented singer, lives alone with her drunken mother and perfects faultless impersonations of the greatest divas, including Judy Garland and Dame Shirley Bassey.
Diana is taking a short break from recording her debut album for RCA to take on the role.
