When she took to the stage to say how much she loved her father, the world was captivated by Paris Jackson.
From being one of Michael Jackson’s mysterious children, so often hidden behind a mask, the bright-eyed 11-year-old has suddenly been catapulted into the limelight.
‘Ever since I was born, Daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine and I just wanted to say I love him so much,’ she said, in an apparently spontaneous outburst at her father’s memorial service.
Until that controversial moment, Paris had lived a closeted life. She and Michael’s sons Prince Michael, 12, and Blanket, seven, were hidden away.
‘How can they go into society? He’s Prince Michael Jackson. She’s Paris Michael Jackson. It would be too difficult,’ Michael once said.
One insider says: ‘These kids were probably the most sheltered children on the planet. What a huge culture shock for them. They’re astonishing, the way they’re handling it – they’re more well-adjusted than anyone would have imagined.’
Now, after seeing Paris’s powerful moment on stage, insiders say the Jackson family can’t resist pushing her towards stardom. Even though Michael spoke out about how fame at a young age damaged him, it’s all the family have known.
‘They want her to be the next Miley Cyrus,’ says a source, as fan mail pours in for her.
Sources have told Now that the Jacksons have consulted child development experts on how best to help the grieving children deal with their emotions. Blanket’s sucking his thumb again and dragging around a doll of his father, while Prince Michael’s struggling to sleep.
But it’s Paris who the family believes can be an even bigger star than her dad. Hollywood image consultant Michael Sands says: ‘Paris has the whole world at her feet… She’ll be a Hollywood star, no question about it.’
