She knows she faces an awful lot of work raising two babies
Thursday, 16 July 2009
Talking exclusively to Now, Sinitta opens up about the pain of having to raise her children alone after splitting from her husband.
‘Being a single mum’s not what I signed up for,’ says Sinitta, 40, who confirmed last week that she was divorcing financier Andy Willner, 49.
‘It’s not something I’d recommend, but you make it work because you have to.’
The couple adopted Magdalena, four, and Zac, two, after suffering three miscarriages and failed attempts at IVF and surrogacy.
Sinitta admits she’s struggled to cope since she and Andy separated last year.
‘I did panic when I realised I’d be raising them on my own,’ she reveals. ‘I’d only just got my head around being a mother and suddenly I had all the responsibility.’
The X Factor mentor, whose friend Simon Cowell is godfather to both children, says: ‘My mum brought me up alone, so I now understand what she went through. It’s the hardest job in the world.
‘I’ve had my babies for more than two years and my life’s totally changed. The first year was the toughest. Although I can look back and think: “OK, we’re coping”, it’s still hard. But I love them and can’t imagine life without them.’
