Kate Beckinsale has been awarded £20,000 libel damages.

The actress sued Express Newspapers for an article in the Daily Express that falsely claimed she was dropped from a remake of cult 1968 film Barbarella.

‘This article wrongly gave the impression that the claimant's career was in decline,’ her lawyer Graham Atkins told the High Court in London.

Kate, 35, was never in discussions to appear in the movie, which originally starred Jane Fonda.

Express Newspapers also offered an apology and will cover Kate's legal fees.
