Singer worries about being damned

Beth Ditto grew up in Arkansas

Beth Ditto is scared by the thought of going to hell.

The Gossip singer was raised a Pentecostalist.

'You live in this shadow that you're going to burn in hell until you're saved,' she says. 'And I still worry about it a little. I don't believe in heaven, but I do still fear hell.'

Beth, 28 - who saw her granny 'speaking in tongues' - had an emotional religious experience herself as a child.

'I was overcome by the Holy Ghost one time,' she tells Observer Woman Magazine. 'But in a Baptist way.

'I was six or seven, and I was saved. I just cried and cried. It was joy!'
