Simon Pegg and his wife have welcomed a baby girl, his rep confirms.

Maureen McCann gave birth in LA at the weekend.

'It's the most important thing to me,’ Simon said of fatherhood earlier this year. ‘I'm very excited.’

Simon, 39, is godfather to Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin's five-year-old daughter Apple.
