Singer admits she's 'terribly sad' over his death
Monday, 6 July 2009
Madonna performed a series of Michael Jackson hits at London’s 02 arena on Saturday night.
The singer, who arrived on stage an hour late, played Billie Jean and Wanna Be Startin’ Something.
One of Madonna's dancers even moonwalked across the stage wearing a Jacko-style hat and white glove.
‘To one of the greatest performers the world has ever known – Michael Jackson,’ she said.
Madonna, 50, admits she’s upset by his sudden death.
‘I am so terribly sad,’ she tells The Sun. ‘I don’t know what artist wasn’t inspired by him.
'To be able to do what he did at such an early age was unearthly, everybody grew up in such awe of him.
'To work with him and hang out him was exciting for me. I used to love picking his brains about musical stuff.’
