Andy Murray also had some of his grandmother's shortbread after the gruelling match

A pizza chain made a special delivery to Andy Murray after it had shut to congratulate him on his Wimbledon victory.

The tennis ace was famished after his epic five-set win over Stanislas Wawrinka on Monday, which finished at 10.38pm.

So he rang his local restaurant to see if they could whip up a margherita for him.

‘Thanks to Pizza Express for firing up their ovens after they shut just for me,’ he wrote on Twitter. ‘Really kind.’

A spokesman for the chain says they want the 22-year-old to win the championship.

‘We are delighted to help Andy,’ the rep tells thelondonpaper. ‘Anything to help him win Wimbledon.’

Meanwhile, Kate Winslet, 33, was among the stars who watched Andy defeat Juan Carlos Ferrero yesterday.

He will face Andy Roddick in the semi-final on Friday.
