Sarah Parish has spoken out about the death of her 8-month-old baby.
The Mistresses star and actor husband James Murray were left devastated when Ella-Jayne passed away in January after being born with a hole in her heart.
‘It is terrifying when you have a baby and she is taken away ill,’ says Sarah, 41.
‘You were expecting balloons and cards and suddenly you are dropped into your worst nightmare.’
Sarah, who gave birth 5 weeks early via Caesarean in May 2008, was left emotionally drained as Ella-Jayne was treated in intensive care for a rare condition called Rubeinstein-Taybi syndrome.
But thanks to the work of staff at Southampton General Hospital, the little one was able to spend her last 4 months at home.
‘She had a great Christmas and was very happy,’ Sarah tells The Sun. ‘This was something they gave us that was so precious.’
Sarah and James, 34, are now hoping to raise £100,000 for the hospital to pay for a clinical psychologist to counsel bereaved families.
