SAD NEWS Patrick Swayze dies

Actor's family were by his side

Patrick Swayze most recently starred in US TV show The Beast

Patrick Swayze has lost his battle with cancer at the age of 57.

The Dirty Dancing actor died yesterday while his wife Lisa Niemi was with him.

'Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months,' his publicist Annett Wolf told the Associated Press.

Patrick, 56, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January 2008.
