David Beckham has confessed how ‘hard’ it is living apart from wife Victoria, but that he still wants to stay in Milan for another 6 years.
He admitted last week that it was his idea to leave his wife and three children in the US and join AC Milan on loan because it would boost his football career.
‘This is what I have to do to stay in the England team,’ said David. ‘It was my idea to try to go on loan somewhere and in my head I thought AC Milan.
'Of course, it’s hard when a husband is on the other side of the world playing football. Victoria knows me and why I wanted to do it. She protested, but we’re grown up enough and we’ve been married for 10 years this July.’
Now can reveal that Victoria, 35, was bitterly upset when David, 34, told her he plans to go back to Milan next January. He wants to keep playing as long as he’s fit and doctors say he can play for another 6 years until he’s 40. This means the couple could spend almost half of the next 6 years apart.
Even David thought he’d only be playing in Italy for one season, but he’s fallen in love with the club and finds it impossible to walk away. ‘If you go to Milan, you never want to leave ,’ he explained. 'The whole aura is very special.'
