Phil Spector will only be eligible for parole when he turns 88

Phil Spector has been jailed for a minimum of 19 years over the killing of actress Lana Clarkson.

The music producer, 69, was sentenced at Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday.

He was given 15 years to life for second-degree murder and an additional four years for personal use of a gun.

‘This is a sad day for everybody involved,’ his wife Rachelle, 28, tells The Associated Press.

‘The Clarkson family has lost a daughter and a sister. I've lost my husband, my best friend.

'I feel that a grave injustice has been done and from this day forward I'm going to dedicate myself to proving my husband's innocence.’

Lana was found dead at Spector's mansion in February 2003. She had a gunshot wound through the roof of her mouth.

Spector's lawyers plan to appeal.
