Susan Boyle loses out to Diversity in Britain’s Got Talent 2009 final

Scottish spinster doesn't go home with £100,000 despite being favourite to win

Susan Boyle was beaten into 2nd place by Diversity on Britain's Got Talent 2009 on Saturday night.

Saxophonist Julian Smith came 3rd.

Hollie Steel, Flawless, Aidan Davis, 2 Grand, Stavros Flatley, Shaheen Jarfagholi and Shaun Smith were runners-up in the Britain's Got Talent 2009 final.

Susan, 48, gave a brilliant performance of I Dreamed A Dream from Les Miserables - the same song she sang for her BGT audition - but it wasn't enough to scoop the £100,000 prize after a faultless performance from the young dance group.

The cheeky Scottish spinster was gracious in defeat. She told Ant & Dec that the best act won and wished Diversity all the best.

Susan has already appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show and has many US fans as well as a huge UK following, so despite only being runner-up, a career in music seems pretty assured.
