The dancers pushed favourite Susan Boyle into 2nd place and Julian Smith into 3rd.

Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden loved their act - as did the public. Piers Morgan didn't agree that Diversity outclassed Flawless, but his was a lone voice.

Amanda told the boys, 'You nailed it!' and Simon said the lads' routine was 'perfection' and the only one that deserved a 10.

Diversity win £100,000 and the honour of appearing in front of the Queen at the Royal Variety Performance.

Modest choreographer and group leader Ashley Banjo was thrilled enough when he thought Diversity had come 2nd. Winning the show was a shock.

'When you said our name I thought I was dreaming,' he admitted to Ant & Dec. 'Everyone who has voted - you have changed our lives.'

18.5m people watched the 11-strong group's triumph. Diversity got  24.9% of the public vote, Susan Boyle 20.2% and Julian Smith 16.4%.

Diversity are Basildon brothers Ian (25), Jamie (23) and Matt Mcnaughton (16); Wickford brothers Ashley (20) and Jordan Banjo (16); Dagenham brothers Sam (19) and Mitchell Craske 12; plus friends Warren Russell (18), Terry Smith (24), Perri Luc Kiely (13) and Ike Ezekwugo (20).
