Danny Boyle flew out to Mumbai yesterday to rescue the child stars of Slumdog Millionaire.
The director was devastated when the shanty town homes of Rubina Ali, 9, and Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail, 10, were demolished by Indian authorities.
Danny had already set up a £500,000 trust fund to to pay for the youngsters' education and living costs until they are 18 - and now the money will really change their lives.
'I have seen their homes being knocked down and that has upset me a great deal,’ Danny, 53, tells the Daily Mirror.
‘They have never been far from my thoughts. It is only now that the trust has been able to put in place a workable plan.’
Rubina played a young Latika in the film and Azharuddin played Salim.
