SHOCK! Simon Cowell's ex Terri Seymour attacked

TV correspondent left shaken

Terri Seymour declined to get medical treatment

Simon Cowell's ex Terri Seymour was assaulted by a stranger on Tuesday night.

Now working as a showbiz correspondent for US TV show Extra, she had just left the American Idol show at LA’s Nokia Theatre.

‘It was all so sudden... very scary,’ says Terri. ‘Nothing like this has ever happened to me before.

‘She came over to me and said, “You're that girl from TV, right?” And I said, “Yeah.” ...The next thing I know, this woman had me in a headlock and tried to choke me.’

Fortunately, Terri's producer pal David Geha was able to step in and scare the woman off.

‘The police were fantastic,’ Terri, 35, admits. ‘They were close by and managed to catch her.’

The 33-year-old suspect was arrested and booked on a felony battery charge. She has now been released on $52,000 (£33,000) bail.

Simon, 49, had left the venue before the incident took place.

Last night, Kris Allen, 23, was crowned the winner of American Idol 2009 ahead of favourite Adam Lambert, 27.
