The former EastEnders star is facing a yo-yo diet dilemma
Wednesday, 20 May 2009
We haven’t seen Martine McCutcheon out and about for a while, but she’s making a bit of a return to the spotlight – after working on a novel called The Mistress, which is due out in November.
On her 33rd birthday last week, she went to Selfridges’ 100th anniversary bash, where fellow guests noticed she’d hidden her fuller figure under a floaty floral dress.
‘Martine’s never been super-skinny and her weight often fluctuates,’ says a friend. ‘She ditched fad dieting long ago but, being in the public eye, she knows she faces scrutiny.’
Martine’s flaunting bigger curves than when she was last on our screens in Echo Beach last year, but chose an outfit which covered her arms and problem areas.
‘My mum says you have to work hard at what God hasn’t given you,’ she says.
‘I’ve always had to work at my weight. I’ve fluctuated between a size 8 and a 14. I can’t eat what I like and stay model-thin. If I overeat and don’t exercise, I pile on the pounds. I’ve never been a fan of gyms, so getting in shape is hard work.’

Shame on Martine McCutheon for being a normal woman! Heaven forbid she get praise for being kind, talented and beautiful. Isn't it a shame that as women we validate ourselves by highlighting another womans inperfections. Nobody is perfect and we cannot continue to keep changing the goal posts on what is beautiful. Beauty is found in happiness whether you are thin or fat or somewhere in-between. Everyone should ditch the 'skinny photo' on their fridge and do as I have done and put one af Martine in a bikini to remind me of what real women look like and be happy with myself. Thank-you Martine for being you.
martine looks great and if shes happy that way then i am 2..... x
