Gerard Butler charged with misdemeanor criminal battery

Actor's case will be heard in court next month

Gerard Butler's been charged with misdemeanor criminal battery, the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office confirms.

The actor is accused of beating up a photographer after leaving Hollywood club the Crown Bar in October.

'The paparazzi continue to endanger the public in an unacceptable way,' his lawyer Blair Berk tells Access Hollywood. 

Gerard, 39, could face six months in jail if convicted.
