Singer still needs to prepare for O2 residency
Wednesday, 13 May 2009
Michael Jackson has postponed the first 4 nights of his London concerts.
The singer wants more time to get the O2 shows ready.
‘These choices were made purely based on the practical needs and the responsible needs of putting up a first class production,’ says creative collaborator Kenny Ortega, 59.
‘Physically and mentally we're having a blast. We're having a great time. We have all been inspired to really raise the bar on our thinking.’
Concert promoters AEG Live have also denied reports that the rescheduling has been caused because Michael, 50, is fighting skin cancer.
‘I would trade my body for his tomorrow,’ president Randy Phillips tells the BBC. ‘He's in fantastic shape. He's not dying of skin cancer.’
The first show of Michael's residency on 8 July has now been pushed back to 13 July, while another 3 dates will now take place in March 2010.
Fans who can’t make the rescheduled dates will receive a full refund.
The news comes just days after AllGood Entertainment claimed Jacko had agreed to appear in Texas with the Jackson family next year in a deal which reportedly banned him from holding any other gigs until 2010.
‘We are aware of the allegations which we believe are completely meritless,’ AEG Live tell the Metro.
