James Kambewa, who claims he's the dad of Chifundo 'Mercy' James - the little girl Madonna wants to adopt - has spoken out about his objections.
'I want to take care of her, and I'm capable to take care of my baby,' the 24-year-old insists, speaking to CBS.
James, who has never met Mercy, has also written to the Human Rights Consultative Committee.
'She is my daughter; she is my blood; she needs parental love,' James tells the Daily Mail. 'She is not an orphan. She lost one parent, yes, but I am still alive and so she is not an orphan.
'Madonna has millions of dollars but that doesn't make her a good mum. Parental love is more than money.'
Mercy has been in an orphanage since her mother Mwandida Maunde, 18, died shortly after giving birth.
James is willing to take a DNA test to prove his is her father.
Madonna will appeal a High Court ruling denying her custody of Mercy – on the grounds that she’s not a resident on Malawi – on Monday.
The Human Rights Consultative Committee have confirmed receipt of James’ letter, but they are yet to decide whether to appoint a lawyer for him.
