Anne-Marie Duff: Monogamy is a challenge

Actress opens up about marriage to James McAvoy

Anne-Marie Duff thinks it's difficult to maintain a relationship in the spotlight.

The actress, 38, has been married to James McAvoy since 2006.

‘I deal with it by not assuming it’s a relationship in the public eye,’ explains Anne-Marie. ‘You just have to be a married couple.

‘It means respecting the other person, and allowing them to be. We’ve all been in relationships where we’ve been diminished, or perhaps diminished the other person, but that is never going to work. You have to relish the other person. Monogamy is a challenge.’

Anne isn’t worried that James, 30, has had to snog sexy female co-stars for his Hollywood movies.

‘You have to trust each other,’ she tells Style. ‘I’ve kissed lots of handsome fellas in my work, too. [Like] Michael Caine.’
